About

Founded in 2018 by Yasuko Tadokoro and Thien Vu Dang, the non-profit organization,
whose mission is to promote ties between Asia and Quebec,
quickly attracts thousands of Quebecers of all origins thanks to the YATAI MTL event, a Japanese street market. During the pandemic, they set up Japan Week, a route of restaurants and shops across Montreal, aimed at celebrating Japan while supporting local businesses.
The organization is also organizing POCHA MTL, a Korean street market, as well as RAMEN RAMEN, a celebration of Japan's iconic dish, and the ASIASIA Market to celebrate Asian Heritage Month. In addition, they helped organize SHONI, a sidewalk sale to celebrate the cultural diversity of Shaughnessy Village in downtown Montreal.

Setting up sorting bins โ™ป๏ธ
During our festivals, and in order to promote recycling and reduce our environmental impact, we install sorting bins.
Why sort your waste?
Sorting allows you to:
- Reduce waste sent to landfill or incinerated
- Preserve natural resources by reusing recyclable materials
- Reduce pollution linked to the production of new materials
- Save energy, as recycling often requires fewer resources than manufacturing from raw materials
Reusable tableware for a more eco-friendly festival ๐ŸŒฟ
Our festival is committed to the environment thanks to the reusable tableware set up by our partner BOPAQ that you can use on site!
By opting for reusable plates, cups and cutlery, we considerably reduce the production of waste and limit the ecological impact of the event.
The advantages of this approach:
- Less waste: no more wasting disposable plates and cups!
- Less pollution: reduction of single-use plastics that often end up in nature.
- A concrete gesture for the planet: by encouraging reuse, we contribute to a more sustainable way of consumption.
Thanks to this initiative, our festival is becoming more environmentally friendly, while offering you a pleasant and responsible experience.
